QVC has a long history of working with transport and rail. More recently we have contributed to some significant projects in South East Queensland, including the SE Queensland transport review. We’ve been involved in rostering and asset management as well as ICT and business systems projects.
South East Queensland Transport Review
Interestingly QVC was engaged to deliver transport changes in Toowoomba, Gladstone, Mackay, Townsville, Rockhampton and the Gold Coast. These changes were to be cost neutral and improve services by shifting rosters from off peak to on peak. It worked really well. Communication was a key element in this project as there were many external stakeholders. Going live was also a thoroughly planned activity as there was no chance for a test-drive. Everything had to go smoothly on day 1. The client has asked us to return, demonstrating the success of the project.
QVC developed a costing system that was integrated to the general ledger and used extensively by staff across the organisation. The system was a rare ‘build’, as a commercial off the shelf (COTS) solution could not be readily found. The focus was on defining requirements successfully so that the scope of the development could be managed. The project was a complete success.
